Where: Strand
Lane, WC2
What: An
archaeological puzzle, this brick bath is of uncertain origin.
Some believe it is a roman bath, others that the bath only dates
from Tudor times. It was so well 'restored' in the 17th century
that even the experts cannot tell for sure!
Either way,
it looks the part. The bath itself is 15 Feet 6 inches long and
fed by a natural spring.
It is now
a National Trust property. You can see the bath from the street,
or make an appointment during the summer to get a closer look.
