Where: Oxford Street, W1

What: One of london's principal shopping streets, with huge department stores and high street shops, it's london's mecca for mass market fashion. Billed as 'britain's busiest high street', it usually lives up to this claim.

Remarkably straight for London, it is on the site of the old Roman road leading west from the city. It also boarders may of london's other shopping districts, including bond street, regent street, saville row and mayfair. It is close to Hyde Park, and many of london's theatres and attractions are a short walk or bus ride away.
