Where: Marylebone
Road, NW1
What: Madame
Tussauds is the world famous waxwork exhibition, where visitors
wander among life-like wax figures of historical
and contemporary famous people. The wax works are arranged in galleries,
including one covering history, superstars, sporting heroes,
famous actors, the grand hall and a chamber of horrors.
In recent
years madame tussauds has been quick to add interactive exhibits
too. For example, you
can sing with Kyle,
kick with Johnny, try out as a Pop Idol,
be snapped by the paparazzi, have your DNA checked or even
get scared witless by serial killers.
This is one
of london's busiest attractions, and one where
(especially during busy times of the year) you must book in advance
- not just to avoid the queues, during busy
periods
tickets
for
whole
days
are sold out in advance.
If you cannot
pre-book admission, and there is a long queue (there
usually is), go to the planetarium first (next door) and buy
a combined
ticket
for the planetarium and madame tussauds. Then walk straight
in to the waxworks
after you've done in the planetaruim (it takes about half an
hour), missing the queue outside. Or, if your time is short,
miss the
planetarium
show
and head
straight for madame tussauds.
A combined
ticket including
admission
to
madame tussauds
and the tower of london is also available, plus entry prices
are different for different times of the day. If you're happy
to
go at the
end of the day, you can save a few pounds (which can add up
across a family or group).
Opening
