What:
State Opening of Parliament Gun
Salutes: celebrating the state opening of parliament,
there is a 41-gun salute at 12:00 in Green Park and a 62-gun
salute at the Tower of London, held at 13:00.
When: the date varies, but it
is usually in November.
Where: Green Park and the Tower

What: the
Lord Mayor's Show - this colourful annual procession, where
the newly-elected
Lord Mayor of London is driven in his
gilded 18th century state coach,
drawn by six horses, to the
Law Courts to take the oath. The procession dates from the
13th century, today hundreds of colourful floats, military
bands and marching
units
accompany
the plume hatted mayor, the procession is almost
4 miles long, but the route is only 1.7 miles!
When: second Saturday November
Where: The procession begins in Gresham Street, near the Guildhall at 10:55 and
snakes
its
way
through the old city streets, ending at the royal courts of justice in Fleet
Street (the new mayor gets there at 12:30). Then from 13:00 there is a return
procession along the Embankment and Queen Victoria Street to Mansion
House.

STATE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. (After each General Election, and
normally end October, beginning November.) The Queen, wearing
her crown and robes of state, and escorted by Life Guards and
Royal Horse Guards, drives in her state coach along the Mall
and Whitehall to the Houses of Parliament. There, in the House
of Lords, she makes her speech from the throne, before driving
back to Buckingham Palace.
RAC Veteran Car Run
1st Sunday in November
In the very early years of the motor car, a man with a red flag
had to walk in front of all cars. This event, also known as the
London to Brighton Rally and only open to cars built between
1895 and 1904, commemmorates the repeal of the "Red Flag
Laws" in 1905.

The annual route commemorating Emancipation Day (abolition of
a man preceding the car with a red flag). Spectators may watch
along the route.
5th november (plus nearest weekend) Fireworks Night
Remembrance Day Service & Parade 14 November
Wreaths are laid to commemorate the dead of the two World Wars.
Attended by the Queen, members of the Royal Family and the
Prime Minister.
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY. Annually, on the Sunday nearest November
11th. the Queen, the Prime Minister. Ministers. and members of
the Opposition, take up their places by the Cenotaph, for the
11 am. two minutes’ silence. Then the Queen leads the laying
of wreaths in memory of those killed in battle since 1914.
