What: Charles
I Commemoration: This event commemorates the execution
of King Charles I on 30 January 1649. The 'kings army',
dressed and armed in authentic 17th Century style, march
retracing the route the king would from have taken that
day.
When: from 11:30
on the last Sunday in
January
Where: starting
at St James's Palace,
the march goes down the Mall, through Horse Guards and
on to Banqueting
House (where
king charles was beheaded). A ceremony is held at the
scaffold site outside banqueting house, before the marchers
carry on to the statue of the king in Trafalgar Square. The
then march through Admiralty

down
the Mall and back to St James's Palace.
