What: One
of the four great Inns of Court (law), Grays Inn is entered through
an archway on the north side of High Holborn. The historic Elizabethan
Hall
has
been fully restored since the war. The Chapel also suffered damage
by bombing. Francis Bacon, who was a student of the Inn, is said
to have planted the catalpa tree in the gardens.
