Happy Few is based on a true story; a group of women from
a range of backgournds form a 'girls only' theatre company
during
the
second world war. They take to the road in a 1920's rolls
royce to perform shakespears plays in schools and village halls,
bringing culture to the masses during this time of suffering
and hardship.
Mostly a comedy, the play also shows war and how it effects
peoples lives through an unlikely group of wartime heroes.
This
first play by the actress Imogen Stubbs is directed by Trevor
Nunn and producerd by Bill Kenwright. It stars include Juliet
Stevenson, Marcia Warren, Kate O’Mara, Patsy Palmer, Caroline
Blakiston, Paul Bentley, Rosemary McHale, Adam Davy, Cat Simmons
and Emma Darwall-Smith.
