About:
The
Proms are a huge, annual classical music festival based in London's
Royal Albert Hall. In between mid July and mid September each year
there are 8 weeks of
daily
concerts,
including upwards of 70 evening concerts in the Royal Albert Hall.
The concerts feature some
of
the
worlds
leading classical musicians, conductors and performers.
In addition,
there is a whole host of ancilliary
events, including several 'proms in the park' (many of which
are outside London). There is
also a 'children's prom' (2004 has a disney theme) and 'the
nation's favourite prom', where popular works selected by the
organisers (such as the 1812 oveature) are mixed with some
of the publics choice of their favourite pieces.
The 2004
proms season will include performances from bass-baritone
Willard W White, violinists Sarah Chang, Joshua Bell and Maxim
Vengerov,
pianist Alfred Brendel, percussionist Evelyn Glennie and conductors
Sir Simon Rattle and Bernard Haitink.

Opening
times:
Times vary, many of the evening performances begin at 19:30,
but some begin at 18:30 and there are a number of performances
during the day. Check with the website below.
Entry
prices: depending
on the price band of the concert, and where you want to sit,
the prices range from £10.00 (or £6.00 with restricted view)
all the way up to £75.00 for a seat in a box.
