Where: Hyde Park, opposite the Royal Albert Hall.

What: Designed by Sir Gilbert Scott, it was erected as a memorial to Prince Albert, Consort of Queen Victoria at a cost of £120,000. It took 20 years to construct (although it was opened to the public in 1872, the statue of Albert was only installed in 1875)
